Group urges Tinubu’s intervention on constituency’s primaries

A Political Group, Badagry Youths Alliance for APC has urged the immediate intervention of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Bola Tinubu, on the refusal of the Badagry Local Government returning officer to record the results of the primary election polled from Ward D and E of the constituency.

The Group, through its Secretary, Hon. Solomon Dozu disclosed this to journalists through a statement while reacting to the just-concluded primaries in the Badagry local government.

According to the statement, Badagry Federal Constituency on the just concluded APC Direct Primary Election for the office of the Federal House of Representatives was duly contested among four aspirants namely; Hon. Bamgbose Hontoyon Joseph – Incumbent MHR, Mr Babatunde Hunpe – S.A to Governor Ambode on Environment, Alh. Rabiu Amusa and Hon. Sejoro in which the election was successful.

“The election was held across the 11 wards that made up of the federal constituency and Hon. Bamgbose polled total votes of 8174 over the runner-up of Mr Babatunde Hunpe of 6589; Alh. Rabiu Ayodele Amusa scored total votes of 2490 and Hon. Sejoro a total vote of 1213.

“But there was a denial and intentional attack to the pace of democracy and the choice of the people as Mr Avoseh Hodewhu Suru, the Badagry LGA Returning Officer refused to collect and record the two results from the electoral officers of WARD D, APA & WARD E, KETA EAST in Badagry West LCDA at the collation centre at Badagry LGA Secretariat, which has been a determinant factor of the party’s victory in Badagry generally for all our aspirants over the years,” he said.

Meanwhile, The Group lamented at the marginalization of the Badagry West LCDA in the political scope despite that majority of votes comes from there.

“It is obvious that Badagry West LCDA which is your brainchild has been marginalized in the political scope despite the fact that Badagry West election result is a major determinant to the election victory of any APC Candidate amongst the three LG & LCDA in Badagry.

“Major appointments such as Commissioners, Special Advisers to the Governor, Board Members and State House of Assemblies election representative’s e.t.c have been overtime enjoyed by Badagry Central and Olorunda leaving Badagry West Local Council Development Area out of the government of the day.

“Badagry West only have the position of House of Representatives held by Hon. Bamgbose Joseph Hontonyon, your loyalist who have consistently uphold the integrity and progress of the party in Badagry Federal Constituency and now some political sycophants have ganged up to rape the interest of the party and the people.

“Sincerely Hon. Bamgbose Joseph, without prejudice or sentiments, has performed exceptionally in office and he is loved by the people,” the Secretary concluded.
