Group urges Gov Zulum to assist Borno indigenes in Edo IDP camp

On Thursday, the Gwoza Elite Forum urged Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State to assist the indigenous people of Borno at the Home for the Needy Foundation in Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The IDP camp houses over three thousand Boko Haram displaced inmates, primarily from Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, with some displaying commendable academic performances.

Mr Ibrahim Mbitisha, the President of Gwoza Elite Forum, made the appeal during a visit to the camp, urging Governor Zulum to extend the support he provides to IDPs in other countries to the Home for the Needy Foundation in Edo State.

Mbitisha emphasised that the governor’s assistance is crucial in repairing facilities, allowing some of the displaced individuals to return home. He also called on NGOs and individuals to contribute to the cause.

The group, comprising Gwoza Local Government Area indigenes, presented food items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp.

In response, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, the Coordinator of the Foundation, expressed gratitude to the Gwoza Elite Forum for their visit. He also thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State for creating an enabling environment and providing automatic employment for first-class graduates.

Folorunsho acknowledged the support of former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who donated primary and secondary schools for the children in the camp. He highlighted the positive impact on education, noting excellent performance in recent JAMB results.
