Group urges Anambra residents to pay taxes, levies

Residents of Anambra state have been urged to be alive to their civic responsibilities to enable the government to achieve its set goals.

Speaking to newsmen in Awka, on Thursday, the Chairman of the Willie Obiano Support Group, Chief Jude Emecheta said prompt and regular payment of taxes and levies would help boost the state internally generated revenue and enhance implementation of 2020 budget.

Chief Emecheta noted that early presentation of the budget to the state House of Assembly by Governor Obiano was a clear demonstration of his resolve and determination to scale up the tempo of good governance and delivery of democracy dividends across the state.

He explained that the budget focusing on accelerating infrastructural development and youth entrepreneurship would consolidate the present derive towards entrenching sustainable development and urged the State Assembly to ensure early passage of the appropriation Bill.

Chief Emecheta urged the people to explore the emerging opportunities in the various sectors of the state economy to boost their investments and create more employment opportunities for youths.

He stressed the need for investors to explore the untapped abundant potential in the Tourism Sector in different parts of the state and underscored need to build local tourism that would attract international tourism, noting that Governor Obiano’s administration has provided favourable investment climate to stimulate economic growth.
