Group set to provide over 600,000 jobs for Nigerian youths

With the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria, coupled with the risk of survival under the current economic situation, the Eagle Search and Rescue Foundation, a non-governmental and non-profit organisation has declared its intention to create 105,450 direct and 500,000 indirect job opportunities for Nigerian youths by the third quarter of 2016.

The group said the move became necessary because of the rate of crime in Nigeria especially among the youth as thousands of graduates pass out of Nigerian universities annually to join the saturated labour market.

Speaking recently in Lagos, the visioner of the foundation, Sunday Bamidele Ajanaku, an America-trained pilot, said with the cooperation of Nigerian government, corporate organisations and individuals, Nigeria will soon overcome the challenge of unemployment.

“This venture is billed to reduce crime and criminality in Nigeria and prepare them for resumption of duties in their respective state of resident/communities,” he said.

Ajanaku, who said his organisation has recruited 3302 youths from 10 states, appealed for Federal Government approval and assistance for the take-off of the project.

According to him, the content of the project includes urgent emergency rescue assistance and medical treatments to accident victims across the country and transmission of information on state of health, location of victims among others to their next-of-kin.

The group would also educate the general public on the importance of Passengers’ Manifests and the need to register while travelling and subscribing to any other data collating agencies aimed at assisting accident victims.

It would also provide micro Accident Insurance Welfare cover to all related sectors of Nigeria Economy including students and financial protection against any unexpected domestic disasters or accident on Nigeria roads through Licensed/Registered Insurance Companies.

According to Ajanaku, the foundation has partnered with 15 reputable insurance companies to underwrite accident risks and the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN), who have made available about 10,000 member hospitals for treatment of all accident victims.

Ajanaku said prominent Nigerian leaders of great repute like the General Overseer, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adejare Adeboye including Engineer Koki Sagri (Kano); Alhaji Olaitan Adeleye (Digital Touch); Dipo Ogunwemimo among others have played significant roles to support the initiatives.

To augment its successful take-off, it therefore requested for Federal government intervention. “We are aware of the Federal Government proposed payment of N5,000.00 stipends to unemployed youths throughout the country effective 2016.  By interpretation, in one year, 100,000 beneficiaries would have taken N6 billion.

“If the Federal Government can honour our plea to give us 60 per cent of this single year payment, we will commence recruitment and provide gainful employment for the same number of youths availing them with all necessary training and orientations within three months,” he said.
