A group called the ‘Markolima Consultancy Academy (MACA) is poised to collaborate with government institutions and agencies to advance transparency and accountability in governance.
Mrs Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, the Programme Manager, made this declaration in Makurdi on Tuesday while introducing the organisation’s preparedness for the Nigerian Good Governance Award 2023/2024.
Mrs Adzape-Orubibi elucidated that the current administration of President Bola Tinubu has charted a roadmap for a new Nigeria, which other stakeholders must adhere to.
She expressed confidence that the economic reforms of President Tinubu’s administration would soon have a positive impact on Nigerians.
She said, “In life, we must accept to take risks because life itself is a risk so we believe his (president Tinubu’s) economic reforms will impact positively on Nigeria in the long run.

To actualize the desired transparency in governance, Adzape-Orubibi said that MACA intends to train and facilitate citizens’ participation in the decision-making process, as well as to facilitate an improved and effectively free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
To improve the organisational structure and capacity of the Good Governance Awareness Initiative (GGAI),” she added.
Consequently, she explained that the organisation would soon encourage and reward public officeholders who have used their positions and offices to deliver democratic dividends and have impacted positively on society.
The category of public office holders targeted to be awarded in this maiden edition includes seven best-performing governors who have impacted government policies on the people in the areas of health, education, social welfare and infrastructural development, and youth and women empowerment.
She added that Ministers will be judged through the implementation of government programmes, policies, and initiatives in their respective ministries.
Others are Senators and House of Representative Members who have made impacts on their constituencies in the area of constituency projects, the number of bills and motions on the floor and empowerment schemes by the legislatures.
