Group lauds NEDC’s support to boost agricultural growth, food production

Management of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has been commended for supporting food production and availability through the provision of farming inputs and fertilisers to farmers in the North-East sub-region.

The commendation is contained in a statement issued by the North-East Youth Discussion Circle on Monday, stating that the move will go a long way in boosting agriculture in the sub-region.

The statement was signed by Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, Chairman of the North-East Youth Discussion Circle and President of the Coalition of North East Youths Alliance Group.

The statement reads: “We, the members of the North-East Youths Discussion Circle, are gathered here today to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Managing Director / CEO of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed G Alkali for the remarkable achievements in infrastructural projects across different states in our subregion.

“The recent provision of agricultural implements to farmers in Bauchi and other states is particularly commendable, as it will significantly boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security.

“This initiative is a testament to the Commission’s commitment to revitalizing our agricultural sector and supporting our hardworking farmers.

“We also want to highlight the laudable youth empowerment programmes and support for students. These initiatives are crucial in building the capacity of our young people and equipping them with the skills needed to contribute to the development of our region,” It stated.

It further stated, “We assure the MD of our unwavering support for the administration’s programmes and policies aimed at rebuilding the dilapidated infrastructure of the North-East sub-region.

“We are aware of the ongoing reconstruction of the collapsed Bauchi – Gombe Road and bridges, which is receiving prompt attention.

“Additionally, the reconstruction of the Adamawa and Taraba interstate road is a significant step towards easing the movement of goods and services between the two states, fostering economic growth and regional integration.”

The group stressed that the MD/CEO, Mohammed G Alkali is doing extremely well, saying, “We call on other heads of government organizations to emulate his dedication and commitments. The youths and students constituency are very much proud of the MD for his tremendous silent achievements.”

The group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to continue supporting the Commission for the betterment of the North East subregion.
