THE South for Atiku Movement (SAM) on Sunday lauded the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for his firm belief in the existence of one united Nigeria and the call for the restructuring of the country.

The group however charged him to put more efforts at assisting President Muhamadu Buhari to enable the present administration face the daunting task of governance.

The co-ordinator of SAM, Kelechi Nwadinobi, who said this in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, noted that the recent call by the former vice president for the true restructuring of Nigeria was a welcome development, noting that the move would help to eliminate perceived marginalisation of some sections of the country.

According to him, Atiku being a democrat must use his wealth of experience to assist the present administration to move the nation from its present state of under development to the path of progress and prosperity.

He maintained that Buhari has the genuine zeal to transform Nigeria to a great nation that will be the pride of all its citizenry, saying that with a man like Atiku behind him, the country will witness positive revolution.

He called on all Nigerians to support the current fight against corruption, noting that the Atiku movement is working hard to ensure that the government succeed.

“On our own we are working hard to ensure that the anti-corruption war of the Buhari-led government succeeded. That is the vision of our leader His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and we have already keyed into it,” he said

The SAM coordinator who was optimistic that the country would soon overcome its current challenges appealed to the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and other militant groups to shield their sword and embrace dialogue in the interest of the majority of Nigerians.

According to him, the issue of alleged marginalisation and other challenges affecting the southern region could best be addressed through dialogue rather than resulting to violence which he said will bring more woes to the area.

Nwadinobi explained that the group was formed to highlight the good qualities of Atiku and encourage him to continue to work for the oneness and progress of Nigeria even when he is not holding any political office.

He said the movement had recorded tremendous successes in the South and expressed the hope that other regions will do same, if the Nigerian project is the quest of all the citizenry.
