Group implores Kogi Ododo to embrace collaboration

The Governor-elect of Kogi State, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, has been implored to embrace collaboration, engage with dissenting voices, and build consensus to galvanise the people for inclusive governance.

The Coordinator of Ebira Renaissance Group (ERG), Pastor Suleiman Joseph Manjo, made this call on Friday in a congratulatory message to the Governor-elect.

The message reads as follows: “The body of patriots devoted to the cause of development and progress via advocacy for justice, fairness, and good governance writes to congratulate and rejoice with you, and indeed, the entire Anebira on your resounding victory at the 11th November 2023 Kogi State Gubernatorial election. We say hearty congratulations, Your Excellency!

“This victory, an unprecedented revolution accomplished by the grace of God Almighty through His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya A. Bello’s dogged determination, by our reckoning, and beyond partisan politics, represents a quantum leap in the collective aspiration of a people who have desired their rightful place in the affairs of a state for which creation and progress they have so laboured.

“From the build-up to, and the election going toward, Anebira has been unmistaken in their resolve for your victory at the poll. Within and outside Ebiraland, the demonstrable emotion and patriotism by our people epitomize the true Ebira of Anebira. May your government work assiduously to sustain this show of oneness. It is apt to say that Anebira holds a deep appreciation for the African proverb that says; ‘If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.’

“It is not uncomplimentary to say that we don’t envy you because of the enormous burden upon your shoulders. You cannot reward everyone who worked for you or thank everyone who voted for you. In fact, you might not be able to satisfactorily meet the expectations of those who worked and voted for you. But one thing is sure: if you can deliver on good governance, you would have rewarded and thanked all who worked and voted for you.”

He noted that they are eager to collaborate with his administration in areas of mutual concern and interest, believing that by working together, they can achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes that shall benefit their people and the entire state.

“We do believe that you have learned from His Excellency, your mentor, so do leverage on his strength. Once again, congratulations on your election. May your tenure be marked by visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and prosperity for all Kogites,” he said.
