Group hails CDS over victory against insurgents in North-East

Published by

A group of enthusiasts of the Nigerian armed forces, the Good Governance Initiative (GGI), has described as a welcome development the reports of the military victory of Boko Haram insurgents in the north-east region of the country.

Recall that the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, recently said no community in the state is still under the control of Boko Haram insurgents, stating that the security situation has improved by over 85 per cent.

Similarly, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, said the issue of Boko Haram has come and gone.

Also, another recent report confirmed a gradual restoration of peace in the popular Dikwa Night Market, and the entire town was sacked in 2014 and 2016 by Boko Haram insurgents.

A press release on Wednesday authored by GGI President Adeniyi Osho said the confirmation of victory over terrorists is a testimony that the sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Nigeria are not in vain.

The initiative further attributes the good news coming out of the region to the dedication of officers and men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of Gen. C.G. Musa.

GGI also expressed joy at the gradual restoration of peace in the popular Dikwa Night Market and the entire North-East and expressed confidence that, with ongoing military operations, the people of the region will soon express total peace.

It further urged the Nigerian media to spread messages of hope while building the confidence of troops engaged in operations across the country.

“At this time, patriotism is needed to make the victory of our troops over the insurgents total.” The group added
