THE Supreme Niger Delta Youth Council Worldwide (SNDYCW), on Wednesday, issued a 21-day ultimatum for the police authorities to release the corpse of its youth leader, Comrade Aji Ngoya, who was gruesomely murdered by yet to be apprehended by the security operatives.
It further urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to compel the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Eleme Police Station in River State, Mr. Taiwo Amos, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), to produce the body of the slain member within 21-day to enable it give him proper and befitting burial in line with the traditions and customs of the group.
The National President of the group, Prince Michael NewgentEkamon, who made this plea at a press conference in Abuja, said the slain member became a victim and brutally attacked with dangerous weapons on his way home after paying visits to his relatives at Njurun in Agbonchia Community.
The group said the IGP and Rivers State Command to stop playing politics with the harking down of its member, but should step up investigations with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
The group, who alleged that, the lackadaisical manner in which the police handled the killing of its member so far smarks of complicity, therefore, warned that, if justice was not done after 21 days, the council would use every reasonable force within the ambit of the law to redress the ugly and unfortunate act.
“For sometimes now, the people of Eleme in Rivers State of the Niger Delta Region have been subjected to worst forms of socio economic treatment, following the unwholesome activities of a few disgruntled individuals who would not hesitate to adopt Gestapo tactics or acts of brigandage against any fellow who questions its actions or authority over issues affecting the communities.
“For a better understanding, I wish to inform you that late Comrade Ngoyan as a member of Okerewa Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State which has 78.073 Units of Shares in Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited was also our coordinator in the same Local Government Area.
“We, therefore, urge the IGP, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to use his good offices and exalted positions to compel the DPO Eleme Police Division, CSP Taiwo Amos to produce the body of slain Aji Ngoya within 21 days to enable us give him a proper and befitting burial in line with the traditions and custom of the council”, it added.
It then appealed to members worldwide to close ranks and work towards the unity and development of the council on one hand and the Nation at large.
