A socio-political group, under the aegis of South West Renaissance Movement (SWRN), has endorsed former Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, who is also the former Governor of Osun State, for re-election.
The National Director General of SWRN, Amb. Olabode Adeleke, expressed the group’s support in his address at the South West political summit held in Lagos, saying that the former Lagos and Osun governors were some of the leaders from the zone who left legacy projects during their tenures.
According to Adeleke, the duo are still popular among the people who appreciate their contributions in raising the bar of good governance, saying that Ambode and Oyetola had unfinished assignments the people needed them to complete, as the race for the 2027 elections takes centre stage in the political environment.
“These two fine gentlemen may not have been treated right, especially in Lagos where Ambode was not given fair treatment in his quest to secure the ticket of APC at the primaries to run for a second term.
“Today, Lagos people still deeply appreciate his modest efforts to improve their lives in various sectors, with his numerous legacy projects bearing his beautiful signature.
“In Osun as well, His Excellency Gboyega Oyetola is still a strong force to reckon with as the people are craving his return to government house. The APC government raised governance to a new high which was manifestly seen in the livelihood,” he said.
“The return of these two leaders to government is at the heart of development. We need to galvanise our support for them to ensure that we put our region on the pedestal of uninterrupted development. It will start with putting efforts together to make sure they return to government,” he added.
The socio-political group, while calling for the support of all Nigerians to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is overwhelmingly supported for a second term in office, also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, his counterpart in Ekiti, Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo for making the states proud with effective leadership, which the All Progressives Congress (APC) is known for.
It reiterated its commitment to the APC to take back Oyo State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order to connect the people to the national government.
