Well-meaning residents of Bauchi State and Nigeria in general have been urged to continue to support the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Umar Buba, in the cause of discharging his duties and effective representation of his constituency.
The call was made by a Bauchi-based group under the aegis of ‘Concerned Citizens of Bauchi State during a press conference with journalists in Bauchi on Thursday.
The group, through its chairperson, Musa Nadabo, stated that the momentum, relevance, and clout that Senator Shehu Buba is gathering has become a nightmare to the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir.
According to him, Shehu Buba, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, is becoming more popular as a grassroots politician, bringing the dividends of democracy to not only the people in his constituency but the state at large.
He said, “It is pertinent to mention that the governor of Bauchi State does not just see the distinguished senator as a political opponent, but he has labelled him as a targeted enemy who should be politically crushed or even eliminated.”
Musa Nadabo added that “This has made the Governor lose his sleep over the continued relevance and clout that the Senator is building since he was elected into the Senate in 2023.”
He stressed that “already, various political groups, particularly youths and women, have been calling on the senator to contest for the governorship seat in 2027.”
“Although the present governor is serving his second and final term, the political momentum and support the senator is gathering continues to send shock across the governor’s camp, whom many see as the emperor in the state,” he opined.
The group leader concluded, saying, “He fears that, should the senator win the seat, no doubt he will be subjected to investigation, especially with the way he has mismanaged the state’s resources under the guise of white elephant projects.”
