Group commends Nwajiuba’s Ramadan gesture

…says Muslim, Christians should show love to one another

A group, the Young Nigeria Voices (YNV), has commended a former Minister of State, Education, Honourable Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, for his generous nationwide donation of food and relief materials to the Muslim community in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The national women leader and FCT coordinator, YNV, Dr. Esther Irebo, who spoke to journalists during the handing over of the relief materials comprising 20 cartons of noodles, 10 cartons of biscuits, 4 cartons of milk, and one bag of sugar to the chief Imam of AYA Central Mosque, Asokoro, Abuja, Mohammed Aliyu, lauded the former minister for his selfless act, saying it demonstrates his commitment to promoting unity and supporting vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

She added that the message is centered around love, oneness, and unity between Muslims and Christians across Nigeria.

She said, “The Young Nigeria Voices is a platform for youths to come together and to bring out capable, credible, and reliable politicians or citizens to contest for political positions by giving them the necessary support to succeed.

“This is about lending a helping hand to our Muslim brothers and sisters who have been fasting for the past three weeks and to show love, kindness through our principal, Honourable Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, former Minister of State, Education.

“He is the brain behind this through our platform, the Young Nigerian Voices. We have done this across the six geopolitical zones through this period of Ramadan, and it’s the turn of the FCT. We have been sharing relief materials to our Muslim brothers for them to break their fast. Our message is all about love, oneness and unity.

“Honourable Nwajiuba’s nationwide Ramadan donation to the Muslim community in the 36 states of Nigeria and the FCT Abuja is a testament to his exceptional leadership and commitment to promoting unity and supporting vulnerable communities in the country.

“He has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the welfare of Nigerians regardless of their religious affiliations. His impressive track record of public service, including his tenure as Minister of State for Education, is a reflection of his tireless efforts to drive positive change in the country.”

Imam Aliyu, while expressing his appreciation for the gifts, prayed for Almighty Allah’s continuous blessings for the group.

“We’re grateful for the gifts provided by the Young Nigeria Voices. We’re very happy and pray that Almighty Allah will continue to guide them. These provisions will be distributed to the people around me.

“Muslims and Christians in Nigeria should show love to one another and preach unity every time. We are the same because Prophet Isa (Jesus) and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) are brothers. Once again, we say thank you for what you’ve brought for us,” the cleric said.

The national publicity secretary, Prince Richard Bamisile, and FCT Publicity Secretary Honourable Femi Laraiyetan,  in their separate remarks, said the gesture is about giving back to society and ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard and counted.

According to the group, the donation was made in three phases: March 27 in the North-East, North-West and North-Central states and March 28 in the South-East, South-West, and South-South states.
