Group collapses platform to support Akeredolu

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Borroffice Campaign Group (BCG), on Tuesday, collapsed its structure to support the candidature of Mr Rotimi Aleredolu in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Speaking during a press conference in Akure, the chairman of the group, Diran Iyantan, said the support became imperative to enthrone the APC and its candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, as the next governor of Ondo State.

Iyantan stated that BCG, the platform used to champion the governorship aspiration of Senator Ajayi Boroffice “has served its purpose and no longer relevant in the scheme of things, hence the dissolution.”

He, however, stated that Boroffice remained a member of the APC in the state, noting that the lawmaker has not informed the group “that he would work against his party or the candidate of the party. He has equally not told us to leave the party or that he would leave the party.”

He, however, said the BCG has been dissolved after several meetings with the members and leaders of the group, saying the group has transformed to Patriotic Progressives Forum (PPF).

He commended some leaders of the defunct group who stood with Borroffice in his struggle to win the party’s ticket and noted that more than 80 per cent of the leadership of BCG  had agreed to stand with Akeredolu and the party.

However, one media aide of Senator Boroffice, Gani Muhammed, said, those who joined the new platform were on their own, saying the political family has been rebranded as a viable platform for its members in their future aspirations.

Muhammed said the new platform was named Sunshine Integrity Forum, and has since replaced the old group deployed for the gubernatorial bid.

He said “The platform, named Sunshine Integrity Forum, with its presence in all the 203 political wards of Ondo State, has since replaced the old group deployed for gubernatorial bid.”

Meanwhile, Professor Sola Ehindero has been appointed the coordinating head while Mr Tunde Ajayi acts as the Secretary and Gani Muhammed is the spokesperson of the forum.
