Group chides Obiano over statement against adoption of Atiku by Ohanaeze

Apparently reacting to a statement credited to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State against Ohaneze on adoption of the Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party and his ruining mate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively as presidential candidate for the Ndigbo, a group christened ” Izu-Umunna Cultural Association of Nigeria (I.U.C.A) has stated that Governor Obiano position is detrimental to the collective interest of the Igbo.
The I.U.C.A in a statement signed by its President Dr Ugo Patrick Ihekuna said it received with shock the insult Governor Obiano heaped on the President of Ohaneze and the leader of Ndigbo Chief Nnia Nwodo over the adoption of Presidential candidate of the PDP.
“As a longstanding affiliate of Ohaneze, Izu-Umunna took part in all the discussions and deliberations leading to the adoption of the presidential candidate and including the Ime Obi on Thursday 24th January 2019 at Enugu. We can attest that the decision at the meeting was a collective one, not that of Nwodo”.
The group stated that every Ndigbo were surprised that that Governor Obiano could made such statement against the leadership of Ohaneze adding that the governor is taking his hatred for the Peter Obi too far and to the detriment of Ndigbo and Igbo vital interest.
“Besides, we believe that Ohanaeze is not one of the government parastatals of Anambra State, but Pan-Igbo Cultural Organization, so it is not within your purview to decide what is good for Ndigbo via Ohaneze: once Ohaneze speaks, Ndigbo have spoken” it posited
it further pointed out that based on the condemnations that trailed the Governor Obiano’s statement against the decision of Ohaneze and its leadership, the governor should tender an unreserved apology to the leader of Ohaneze Chief Nnia Nwodo and to the Ndigbo who have been mortally wounded and offended by the statement.
