CodeLagos: Resumption fixed for Monday, Nov 13CodeLagos: Resumption fixed for Monday, Nov 13A political pressure group operating under the aegis of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard on Sunday gave support to Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership on their decision to monitor the recent appointment of secretaries and supervisory councilors for all the council areas in the state, saying the step was in the right direction and meant to avert crisis.

The State Coordinator of the group, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade, stated this when he received some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus members that decamped to the group.

Bamigbade stated that the appointments were in line with the administration’s drive to continue to reposition the local government administration for efficient performance and service delivery.

“We are proud the governor wants to protect and nourish that spirit that binds the party together. If the governor has not done this, the party chieftains will impose their relations on the people. What the governor has done is to ensure that competent people are given the appointments.

“The extension of political offices to all parts of Lagos State, aside the establishment of first DNA Forensic Centre in West Africa, the provision of qualitative education for Lagosian children, as well as the good security, good roads, food security to mention but a few is a good one for the state.

“The good leadership started from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. To the best of my knowledge, based on available records and facts on ground, Ambode’s transformation of Lagos State is unprecedented in the history of Lagos State.

“His performance in office speaks volumes for him. He wants a team that will compliment this performance at the grassroots level. Unlike the previous era when some set of people used local council’s funds to reimburse their godfathers, Ambode in his own God-given wisdom, identified this cankerworm that had eaten deep into the fabric of Lagos State politics and stopped it. We are in support of this resolve. It is a step in the right direction,” he said.

Speaking further, Bamigbade contended that the positive impacts of Ambode’s policy of no to god-fatherism in local councils cannot be underestimated, saying that the entire people of Alimosho were unanimously lauding him for taken the bold step.

He, therefore, counselled the local government that blatantly refused the suggested list of candidates presented by Governor Ambode to understand the importance of getting the right professionals into those offices.
