Group alleges planned attack on Ogbe-Ijoh by Aladja community, army

THE Niger Delta Scholars has alleged a planned attack on Ogbe-Ijoh by mercenaries to be assisted by suspected military personnel.

The group, in a press statement signed by Chief M. Keme, National Co-ordinator, and made available to TribuneOnline on Thursday, said the planned attack has been organised under the pretext of providing security for Ogbe-Ijoh community.

“Once again, we bring to the notice of Government and the public of another planned and to be a well-coordinated attack on Ogbe-Ijoh by Aladja community to be supervised by military personnel under the pretence of providing security and the action is to be executed from now till the end of February 2018.

“Intelligence report indicates that Aladja Community has concluded a plan to attack Ogbe-Ijoh with hired assailants to be supervised by some military personnel stationed in Aladja to maintain peace.

“We recall that 22 years ago, Ogbe-Ijoh was completely burnt down by military personnel posted to Aladja to maintain peace during the 1995/1996 crises.

“In furtherance of this plan, about 300 assailants has been assembled with support from the Udu Council Chairman to launch an attack on Ogbe-Ijoh.

“The community was under attack on Sunday the 11th through Friday the 16th February 2018 where scores of persons were injured and still receiving treatment in hospital,” Chief Keme recalled.
