Grid failure: Sen Yar’adua sponsors solar skills training for youths in Katsina

Published by

Thirty-three youths from the eleven local government areas of the Katsina Central Senatorial District are currently participating in a skills acquisition training program focused on solar power energy technology in Katsina.

Three youths have been selected from each of the eleven local government areas to benefit from this training, which is organized by the College of Education Jama’are in collaboration with EZZETZ Limited.

The initiative is sponsored by Senator Col. Abdul’aziz Musa ‘Yar’adua (retired), who represents the Katsina Central Senatorial District.

The training will take place over a period of six days, after which the participants will be empowered to become self-employed and earn a living.

Furthermore, upon completion of their training, these trainees are expected to pass on their knowledge by training others, thereby fostering self-reliance within their communities.

The Senator was represented at the opening ceremony by Major Yahaya Garba Rimi, the Commandant of KASAROTA.

He emphasized that solar power technology has become increasingly essential, making it vital to select at least three youths from each of the eleven local government areas to undergo this training.

Garba stated that the Senator hopes this initiative will help revive local businesses that have been affected by frequent power outages and improve lighting for security purposes.

“The Senator, who’s at the same time the Chairman of the Northern Senators forum is disturbed by the constant power failure in the north thereby rendering a lot of youth who initiated their own businesses which need electricity jobless..

“We have to initiate ways of supporting them and assist them with whatever is accessible to us.” The Senator said.

The power failure hitting the North has crippled a lot of businesses leading to loss of jobs and drowning deeper large number of people into poverty.
