Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Honourable Damilare Abioro, has passionately appealed to President Bola Tinubu to grant clemency on the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
This is coming after Kanu had been in detention in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged treasonable offences.
Abioro, who made the appeal while speaking with newsmen at the weekend, asked President Tinubu to adopt political solutions to solve Kanu’s incarceration.
The NNPP Chieftain explained that while the embattled IPOB leader is fighting for a genuine cause, his approach is faulty.
He added that every patriotic person will always fight for the freedom of his or her persons but such can only be achieved through diplomatic and legal means.
According to the NNPP Chieftain, “Kanu like every human being with genuine intention to liberate his people will surely seek any avenue to get the freedom, no matter what it takes.
“His demands and requests, no matter how genuine they are, require diplomacy and political know-how to achieve the desired goals of such struggle.”
Abioro, however, tasked all concerned stakeholders to continue to appeal to the Federal Government to facilitate the release of the IPOB leader
