Govt seals two illegal hospitals in Ekiti

Ekiti state government has closed down two hospitals in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital for flouting the rules of medical practice in Nigeria.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, who led the anti-quackery team, said the committee discovered that quacks carried out caesarean section in the state.
The hospitals sealed were Divine Citadel Hospital and Adedamola Hospital, both in the  Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti.
“We found a lady who is not a nurse injecting a patient and a quack doctor carrying out a caesarean section on a patient suffering from appendicitis. We found a speculum and a regular knife being used for operation in a very dirty environment.”
She  urged Ekiti residents to desist from patronizing fake hospitals, adding that, ” arrangement is on towards ensuring that doctors display their certificate at the entrance of their hospitals to show their authenticity.”
The Secretary of the Landlord Association of Moferere Community, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti, where the hospitals are situated, Mr Ajisola Alao, appreciated the State Government and the committee on their efforts and pleaded that such efforts be intensified to save more lives from quack doctors.
