The Bayelsa State Government has said it would support the Yenagoa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (YECCIMA) by strengthening a partnership tie that would attract investors and
promote the enormous investment potentials in the state.
The Government spoke through the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon Jonathan Obuebite when the leadership of YECCIMA led by its 3rd Vice President, Pastor Sinivie Ototo paid him a
courtesy call in his office in Yenagoa.
He noted the critical role of the organized private sector in the growth and development of the economy particularly at a time that the state government is diversifying into the areas of agriculture and
tourism.
The Commissioner described YECCIMA as a critical stakeholder in the Bayelsa Project and key player in Governor Seriake Dickson’s developmental agenda as the chamber possesses the technical abilities
investors are seeking to invest in the state economy.
According to him, government makes economic policies which are implemented by the private sector pointing out that investors coming into the state are more likely to discuss with YECCIMA before meeting
with government.
Obuebite, enumerated the developmental strides of the Dickson Restoration Government in the area of infrastructure, agriculture, health, tourism and education as well as efforts to establish the N10
billion entrepreneurial development fund.
While speaking on the development fund, he disclosed that both the state government and the Bank of Industry have made available N2.0 billion as counterpart funds while the remainder will be provided by
other development partners and donor agencies.
Earlier, the 3rd Vice President who is also an Evangelist, Sinivie Ototo commended Hon. Obuebite for the excellent work he is doing in the Restoration Government which formed a catalyst for the meeting.
In his speech, Director-General of YECCIMA, Barrister Warmate Jones Idikio said the purpose of the courtesy call was to seek partnership with the state government through the Ministry of Information and
Orientation in view of its critical position in disseminating information to the larger society.
Idikio noted several sectors where Bayelsa State enjoys comparative advantage and called for the support of the state government to enable YECCIMA play its proper role in the growth and development of the
state economy.
