Governorship election: Edo declares 2-day public holiday

Ahead of governorship election in Edo State, on Wednesday, the state government has declared a two-day public holiday to allow for a hitch-free conduct of the election.

The holidays are to be observed on Tuesday, September 27, which is a day before the election, and the Wednesday, September 28, which is the election day.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole announced the holidays in Benin at an occasion where he was honoured by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Oshiomhole said that the purpose of the holidays was to enable workers travel to where they registered as voters to exercise their franchise.
