Governor Udom Emmanuel
Governors under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) have taken a decisive move to steer the country out of its current socio-economic crises.
The Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, who disclosed this in Uyo, the state capital explained that it was the major factor that necessitated the participation of the governors and other key business stakeholders at the recent business expo held in Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
According to the governor, the meeting organised by the UAE’s Ministry of Economy in conjunction with the NGF had canvassed for the Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) to the tune of $15billion, explaining that such investments would stimulate the local economies with a view to scrambling Nigeria out of the prevailing economic doldrums.
Emmanuel, who argued that Akwa Ibom being one of the safest and peaceful states in the country for tourists, investors and visitors, assured that the Niger Delta state had since been re-positioned for business and was ready to play host to expatriates in partnership to revamp the science park, Ibom Deep Seaport and the industrial estate.
He added that the state with the longest shoreline has the advantage of running a wholly state-owned airline with a functional international airport.
Emmanuel said: “Akwa Ibom is the safest place to work, live and invest in Nigeria. We are investing in critical infrastructure requisite to fast-tract growth,” adding that his administration was also tackling the crises of security headlong to create a peaceful ambience for socio-economic developments.
