Abia State governor, Dr Alex Otti, on Tuesday, handed Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to five High Court judges of the state.
The beneficiaries of the INNOSON G6 SUVs were judges appointed about four years ago but were not provided with official vehicles to discharge their duties.
Governor Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Celeb Ajagba, said he has never hidden his love and respect for the judiciary.
Ajagba assured that the governor is committed to ensuring the judiciary functions well by giving them the necessary support and cooperation.
Presenting the keys and papers of the vehicles to the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Lilian Abai, at the State High Court Umuahia, the governor explained that the gesture was in fulfilment of his promises to the judges.
Justice Abai later handover the keys of the vehicles to the beneficiaries, which included Justice Ogbonna Adiele, Justice Chimezie Nwakanma, Justice Enyinnaya Okezie, Justice Okoronkwo, and Justice Philomena Nweke.
Responding on behalf of the judges, Justice Okezie appreciated the governor for the gesture and assured that the vehicles would be put to good use.
Present during the presentation was the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, and other government officials.
