Governor Makinde, save us from impending danger

The bridge linking UI/Agbowo and Agbowo Expressway is currently a death trap and a disaster waiting to happen. In fact, it is already caving in on both sides and what is left is just a narrow passage for one car at a time. This bridge has been showing signs of impending collapse for years without any attempt by former administrations to remedy the situation.

What makes the reconstruction of this bridge a matter of urgency is the fact that it serves a great number of people which includes traders, cab drivers, artisans, bike riders and office workers as well as students, especially a great number University of Ibadan students who stay off campus. We do not hope for the bridge to collapse but one can only imagine how disastrous and heart-rendering it would be if the bridge crumbles with motorists, pedestrians and bike riders on it. The current heavy downpour is a sign that we should all be worried.

This is a passionate plea to our amiable governor to please extend your good governance to the UI/Agbowo Expressway bridge before it claims the precious lives of the users. We also implore the management of the University of Ibadan to do on site assessment of the bridge and send an adequate report to the state government for urgent reconstruction.
