Government announces Public Holiday for Thanksgiving in Bayelsa

SEQUEL to the dedication and commissioning of the magnificent 10, 000 capacity Ecumenical Centre, The spiritual renaissance has continued as the Bayelsa State Government announced a public holiday to enable Bayelsans and non-indigenes resident in the state to join the state annual thanksgiving on the 2nd November 2017.

The Centre built by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state led Restoration Government, was dedicated and commissioned by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, accompanied by other clergies, Tuesday 31 November 2017.

The Government spoke through the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, who made the call while speaking with newsmen in Yenagoa. Iworiso-Markson said, that giving thanks to God for his goodness, benefit and progress as individuals and government is an invitation for more blessing from God, epitomized by the biblical story of a leper among ten healed, that return to thank God and his healing was perfected.

According to him, no excuse would be tenable to stay away from the thanksgiving service at the ecumenical centre, particularly as a public holiday backed by law has been announced for both civil servants and private sector employees in the state. Said he ‘’this year’s thanksgiving should not be taken lightly, we must consciously say thank you to God for the peace enjoyed by three arms of government; and that being afloat despite the recession, couple with the big tickets projects started and completed by the Dickson led government.

The Commissioner averred that renowned Minister of the Gospel, Dr Uma Ukpai would be the guest preacher, while he would be joined by other men of God, as well as American gospel singer, Ron Kenoly to lead men and women in worship.

‘Let us begin to begin to make the necessary sacrifice for our tomorrow, come fasting so that at the close of worship, we could all break the fast, let us as Bayelsans, leaders in both private and public sector make the sacrifice and draw close to God then Bayelsa and Nigeria would gain speedy growth and infrastructural development.

To this end, Iworiso-Markson reiterated that all roads lead to the magnificent Ecumenical Interdenominational worship centre, first of its kind in the country, where quality praise, worship and thanks would be offered to God, as service commences at 10 am at the edifice situated on the glory drive, Igbogene in the state capital, Yenagoa.
