Gov Yusuf approves 100 hectares of land for Dangote varsity expansion

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved 100 hectares of land for the expansion of Dangote University of Science and Technology, owned by the Kano State government.

According to a statement signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, a copy made available to the press in Kano while inspecting abandoned projects at the university.

The statement disclosed that Governor Yusuf was accompanied by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and other top government officials.

During the visit, the Governor was conducted around the university by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, who briefed him on the status of the abandoned projects.

He assured the university community of his administration’s commitment to completing all stalled projects, emphasising the state government’s dedication to revitalising the institution.

He further recalled that the university was originally established by Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso during his first tenure as governor to produce middle-level manpower in the fields of Science, Technology, and Engineering.

He then added that “As part of efforts to support the university’s growth, Governor Yusuf approved 100 hectares of land for its expansion, which will accommodate a new Faculty of Engineering and a Senate Building.”

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to prioritising education, Governor Yusuf stressed that education remains the foundation of sustainable development and assured that his government would continue investing in the sector.

Earlier, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai appealed to the governor to settle compensation claims for some residents neighbouring the university, facilitating a smooth expansion process.
