Gov Sule to complete renovation of NYSC orientation camp, Keffi

GOVERNOR Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has assured management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state of his administration readiness to complete the renovation of Dan Yamusa orientation camp, Keffi.

The Governor made the pledge at the Swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 Batch ‘C’ Corps members deployed to the state.

Sule, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe announced that he had recently given directive for the total renovation of the orientation camp to fulfil a pledge he made in the past to renovate the camp.

He, however, added that the complete renovation of the camp will commence shortly after the end of the orientation exercise for the 2019 Batch C corps members currently in the camp.

“I want to assure the management of NYSC in the state that my administration will continue to assist the scheme in the state where and when necessary and my doors will remain open to you always.

“Only recently I gave approval for the complete renovation of this orientation camp and sectional work has started with the road network.

“As soon as this orientation course is over, the renovation work will start fully and will be completed in no distant time,” he said.

Sule explained that the role of the scheme is playing a key role of national integration, unity and integration and cannot be underestimated hence the resolve of his administration to support the NYSC as much as it can to help the scheme meet the goals set for it.

The governor said the renovation of the orientation camp among other assistance given to the scheme in the state were efforts to support and appreciate the NYSC especially her corps members who come from different parts of the country to offer numerous services geared towards the development of the state.

“Let me, therefore, welcome these young, committed and patriotic Nigerians who have shown zeal to serve our fatherland in Nasarawa state,” he said.

Sule also then enjoined the corps members to be strictly guided by the oath of allegiance they took and exemplify discipline, patriotism, loyalty and hard work in the camp and throughout the service year.

“Do not forget that you are representatives of the various states, local governments and families where you come from; therefore, ensure that the image of the people you represent is not tarnished by your actions,” he said.

He also assures the corps members that Nasarawa state is hospitable, peaceful and loving and that their security is guaranteed throughout the service year in the state.

In her address, Mrs Ramatu Sanda, Coordinator of NYSC in the state said 2102 corps members had been registered for the 2019 Batch ‘C’ orientation exercise comprising of 1164 females and 938 males.

She listed activities lined up for the three weeks orientation exercise to include paramilitary drills, citizenship, leadership and physical training, lectures, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.

She also thanked the governor for the current renovation work done so far at the orientation camp, adding that the gesture was a manifestation of the governor’s kindness and commitment to the scheme.
