Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called on Alumni association of tertiary institutions in the state to initiate visible projects that would improve the standard of education.

Sule made the call on Wednesday when he received officials of the Alumni Association of the State Polytechnic, Lafia in his office.

He said the contribution of alumni members to the development of their own institution cannot be overemphasised, hence the need for the call.

The governor told the old students that his administration would prioritise the education sector in the interest of development.

“I want to commend you for the visit and to assure you of my administration’s commitment to give adequate attention to the education sector among other sectors in the state.

“This is because no society will achieve meaningful progress and development without a sound education, hence the need for my government’s commitment in that direction.

“It is in view of this that I want to call on you and other Alumni members to be proactive towards supporting the growth of the education sector. This is by initiating visible projects that will help towards uplifting the standard of education in the state,” he said.

The governor also said that he would give attention to the development of the polytechnic while soliciting for support from the public to enable him to succeed.

Earlier, Mr Shuaibu Abdul, the President of the Alumni Association, lauded the accreditation of some courses in the institution.

He, however, called for efforts toward the accreditation and introduction of new courses in technological and engineering sector.

The president assured the governor of their readiness to contribute their quota to the development of the institution and the state at large.
