Gov Okpebholo appoints Anthonia Njoku as CMD, Edo Specialist Hospital

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, has appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Anthonia Inibokun Njoku, a former Senior Lecturer, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, College of Medical Sciences, Ambrose Alli University, as the Chief Medical Director of Edo Specialist Hospital, Benin.

Njoku’s appointment, which was contained in a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Fred Itua, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Benin, stated that the appointment was with immediate effect.

The statement disclosed that the new CMD of the Specialist Hospital attended the University of Maiduguri, West African College of Surgeons, West Africa Bioethics Institution, Ibadan, University of Benin, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

According to the statement, Dr Njoku obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S), MSc. in Reproductive Health, Diploma in Bioethics, and Certificate in Principles and Practice of Clinical Research from the institutions she attended.

“Dr Njoku is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, Past Secretary of the Nigeria Medical Association, Member of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria, Member of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), as well as the Medical Women’s Association.”

“Njoku has served in several capacities in various health institutions. Until her appointment, Dr. Anthonia Inibokun Njoku (née Ebare) was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, College of Medical Sciences, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and Honorary Consultant Sp. Grade 1, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State,” the statement added.
