Gov Oborevwori opens Red Cross youth camp in Delta

The Delta State Governor, Sherriff Oborevwori, has officially opened the 18th edition of the Nigerian Red Cross Society’s International Youth Camp at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Training School in Agbor, Delta State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Harry Trakiriowei, the Governor emphasised the state government’s commitment to empowering youth, citing initiatives such as reduced fees for state-owned universities and opportunities in both formal and informal sectors.

The Commandant of the FRSC Training School Agbor, Oludare Ogunjobi, highlighted the long-standing partnership between the Red Cross and the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, commended the dedication of the youth participants and recognized their pivotal role in shaping the future of humanitarian efforts in Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to the Federal Road Safety Corps for hosting the camp and welcomed international delegates from Seychelles, Mozambique, Uganda, and Kenya.

Prince Adeaga emphasised the significance of the event, highlighting the NRCS’s commitment to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Unified Plan 2024, focusing on empowerment, collaboration, sustainability, and inclusivity.

He urged the youth to play active roles in their communities, ensuring sustainable and inclusive efforts.
