Gov Obiano lauds improved security in Anambra

Published by

Gov Willie Obiano of Anambra has commended security agencies in the state for their hard work and dedication to duties, which resulted to improved security in the state.

Obiano spoke on Saturday in Awka, at the presentation of books on security education/civic education.

The governor said they were dedicated and capable of providing adequate security for the state with support of the citizens.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, the governor said the books on security were timely, adding “Nigeria is undergoing various security threats and books on security will help in addressing security challenges.’’

He commended the author of the books, stressing that security was one of the pillars of his administration.

Chief Alex Onukwue, the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), who spoke, said that security was fundamental in schools and homes.

He said that the issue of security must be adequately handled in order to boost development.
Onukwe urged parents and religious leaders to preach against the “get rich syndrome.’’

Author of the books, Mr Andy-Campbell Onyeakanam, said the books were written to help combat crimes through the classroom, noting that society could fight crime by teaching children security education.

“We are here to say no to any act that would be inimical to our children” Onyeakanam declared.

He said that we should not wait for God to come down from heaven to fight crimes but we will do it ourselves.
