Gov Namadi disburses N315m, food items to Jigawa flood victims

Jigawa state governor, Umar Namadi has approved the release of the total sum of N315.5 million to 15,775 flood victims presently in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across 20 affected local government areas in the state.

The governor disclosed in Kiyawa, Kiyawa town headquarters of Kiyawa local government area in the state while flagging off the distribution of relief assistance to the victims, said cash assistance and food is to reduce hardship experienced as a result of the disaster.

Namadi explained that “Today we are flagging off the distribution of of 10 kg bag of rice, Maize, Geane -corn, a cartoon of Spaghettis and N20,000 to each of the 15,775 flood victims households.”

Governor Namadi noted that, his government is always concerns with the situation of the flood victims since the beginning of the disaster and it will continue to support them in collaboration with federal government and other private and public sympathisers.

“As we commiserate the death of 36 people died as a result of the flood, and sympathized with those lost their houses and farm land, We will continue to render more support to the victims to reduce the hardship they face” Governor Namadi stated.

Speaking at the occasion the state Commissioner Ministry of Special Duties, Hon Auwal Danladi Sankara said, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has been working day and night to reach the flood victims

“As his excellency Governor Malam Umar Namadi directed us, Jigawa state Emergency Management Agency had in the early day of the flood provided rapid response to the victims, we also provided second relief materials and today we are given another relief materials to the victims living at various IDPs camp.

“We have the comprehensive List of the victims, the assessment of the damages which we had jointly taken in collaboration with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and we will continue use it to ensure we support each family and ever victims of the flood across the state,” Sankara stated.

Thousands of the flood victims who received the relief materials have expressed their gratitude to Governor Namadi for his support and concern on their plight.
