GOV. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Thursday announced plans by the state government to summon a summit on the Health sector with a view to addressing the inadequacies of the sector.

The governor said his administration placed a priority on the health sector, adding that N200 million had been released as part of counterpart funded in connection with some projects.

“This event is also a clear signal of our administration’s proactive and response mechanism in terms of medical emergency to safeguard the lives and property of our citizens,

“Equally important is the release of the sum of N200 million as part of our counterpart funding as agreed in the MoU between the government of Bauchi, Bill and Belinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF and Aliko Dangote Foundation.

“This money has been paid and we are now open to receive more aid from donor agencies.

“In the foregoing, I, therefore, ordered a matching order to the Commissioner of Health, to organise Health Summit in the state within a very short time, so as to know our gaps and inadequacies within the sector,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that more than five hundred thousand people from nine months and above, are expected to be vaccinated.
