Gov Lawal’s wife launches debts settlement programme in Zamfara

The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has launched a Debt Settlement Programme aimed at settling the debts of 1,000 less privileged individuals across the 19 Emirate Councils in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Zara’u Musa, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor’s Wife (Media and Communication), it was noted that the first lady has pledged to continue this gesture across the state.

“Some months back, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, the wife of the Governor, collaborated with the Zakkat and Endowment Board, where she distributed rice and cash to the less privileged across the nineteen emirate councils, in an effort to reduce poverty in the state,” the statement mentioned.

According to her, the Governor’s wife has inaugurated a debt settlement initiative for no fewer than 1,000 individuals across the nineteen emirate councils at the State Zakkat Collection, Distribution, and Endowment Board.

“This display of compassion and kindness aims to reunite families, restore dignity, and empower individuals to become self-reliant,” she said.

The Governor’s wife highlighted that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, directed the Zakkat and Endowment Board to intervene in settling debts, especially for those who have been taken to correctional centers due to their inability to pay.

She explained that a committee has been formed under the Grand Khadi, with the Comptroller of Prisons and Ulamas, tasked with settling debts and helping to mend broken marriages in the state.

“I would like to inform the good citizens of our dear state that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, is making significant efforts to ease the suffering of the underprivileged and vulnerable across the state,” the first lady said.
