Gov Lawal lauds Army’s resilience in fostering peace

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has lauded the efforts of men and officers of the 1 brigade Nigerian army, Gusau for their professionalism and resilience in sustaining peace and tranquillity, as he witnessed the end of Year 2023 West African Social Activities (WASA) in the State.

The Governor who was represented by the Emir of Kaura Namoda Alhaji Sanusi Ahmad Asha at the Nigerian army cantonment barracks, Gusau in Zamfara state said he was delighted to witness at the end of this year 2023 WASA.

“This event in particular is very important for the Nigerian Army as it provides an opportunity for social activities of officers and men of the Nigerian Army to celebrate our rich cultural heritage”. He mentioned.

“I want to sincerely commend officers and soldiers of 1 Brigade and Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara state for their professionalism and resilience in sustaining peace and tranquillity in the State”.

According to him, Government and people of Zamfara appreciate the efforts of the Nigerian army at ensuring security and the relative peace enjoy in Zamfara State today with other security agencies support in the state.

He disclosed that the Zamfara State Government has instituted and actively funded the recruitment and training of Community Protection Guards who will serve as a force multiplier in the State.

Earlier, the commanding officer I brigade Nigerian army, Gusau brigadier General S. Ahmed said The West African Social Activities (WASA) is an annual event usually organized in Nigerian Army Formations and Units across the country to mark the end of a successful training and operations year.

Brig.General S. Ahmed explained that the WASA is a social forum for Soldiers to display their local customs, traditions and rich cultural heritage.

The commanding officer 1 brig.who was represented by the command chief of staff Col. J. Umaru disclosed that the year 2023 was indeed a successful year for the command as troops had recorded tremendous success on war against insurgency across the area of operation.

He revealed that last year some operations like operation safe condor during the general election,onslaught against terrorists through series of clearance operations in their Areas of Responsibilities, the combined troops of the Joint Task Force North-West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have succeeded in a well coordinated operation in the year 2023.
