Gov Kefas commences renovation of Taraba secretariat after 30 years

Published by

After 30 years of General Sani Abacha’s Taraba State Secretariat in Jalingo, Governor Agbu Kefas has commenced the remodeling of the building, which has remained unchanged since 1993.

The Nigerian Tribune, which visited the Secretariat on Wednesday, gathered that the project was in fulfillment of Governor Kefas’ promise during a visit to the Secretariat.

Architect Ignatius Agbese told our correspondent that the contract, awarded to ERADAPPA and ASSOCIATES LTD, is designed to deliver the best quality and shape among all state Secretariats in Nigeria.

Architect Agbese said the remodeled Secretariat, featuring a new three-story building with a lift and other modern facilities, is intended to provide modern accommodation for civil servants and members of the state executive council.

Some of the civil servants who spoke to our correspondent during the visit commended Governor Kefas for his commitment to investing in public infrastructure.

Mr. Tanko Ayuba, Sarah Musa, and John Adi all expressed that if completed, the project would be a morale booster for civil servants, as the Secretariat would provide a conducive working environment.

A public affairs analyst and journalist, Mr. Justin Tyopuusu, also said that the remodeling of the General Sani Abacha State Secretariat in Jalingo, along with other public infrastructure projects being undertaken by the governor, was not just an upgrade of public infrastructure in the state but a symbol of a brighter future for Taraba.

“Today, anybody that comes to Taraba will attest that there is a leader in Taraba who shares a vision for a greater Taraba.

“The Governor is marketing Taraba to the world, and soon, people will start seeing the benefits of his investment. These projects will send messages to investors and friends of Taraba that now Taraba is ready for business,” Tyopuusu said.
