Gov. Ikpeazu inaugurates joint implementation committee

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia on Thursday inaugurated a seven-man Joint Implementation Committee to fast track the achievement of infrastructural development in Abia.

Ikpeazu speaking during the ceremony in Government House, Umuahia, urged members of the committee to evolve programmes that would promote the establishment of projects to improve the livelihoods of the citizenry.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Ude Oko-Chukwu, also urged the newly inaugurated committee to ensure that the aim of setting up the committee was realised.

Ikpeazu charged the committee to ensure that the resources contributed by the state and local governments towards infrastructural development would be used judiciously to improve the wellbeing of the people of Abia.

Responding on behalf of members of the committee, Mr Henry Nwachukwu, the Chairman of the committee, thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to serve the people of Abia.

Nwachukwu, who is also the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, assured the governor that the committee would discharge its duties without fear or favour.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee consists of Chief Armstrong Chimezie, Chief Ossy Nwamuo, Chief Peter Onyegbu representing the three senatorial zones.

Others include Mr Kelechi Imeoria, Mr Okorie Ngwobia and Mr Chinaemeze Chinaemeze.
