Gov Fintiri pledges to safeguard vandalised NEMA warehouses

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has disclosed plans to allocate a suitable office and warehouse within the Government House premises to prevent the ongoing vandalism of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) warehouses by miscreants.

Governor Fintiri gave the assurance during an interactive session with NEMA Director General, Habib Ahmed who paid a condolence visit to the State on the recent Boat mishap.

The Governor who applauded various interventions, commended NEMA’s effective emergency response in Nigeria and specifically in Adamawa State.

In his address, Mr. Ahmed who expressed regrets over the disaster, advocated for the use of life jackets and safe canoeing practices on our inland waterways.

During his remarks at Government House Yola, Mr. Ahmed emphasized the need to reconsider disaster risk management, especially concerning annual flood disasters and boat accidents along major rivers, stressing that some of these disasters are predictable and avoidable.

The NEMA helmsman was accompanied by Director Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Kennedy Mataluwo, Special Adviser to NEMA Director General, Idris Muhammed and Deputy Director Operations, Bashir Idris Garga.
