Akwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno has empowered over 2,000 entrepreneurs through his Arise Entrepreneurial Equipment Support Scheme (AESS).
The event which took place at the Ibom Hall grounds on Tuesday, was described as a mile stone achievement in the state and in keeping with his campaign promises, to the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Eno noted that the program is designed to help drive economic empowerment and entrepreneurship development while boosting job creation and revenue.
According to him, as a testament to his drive towards building a robust economy for the people, AESS is targeted at Akwa Ibom entrepreneurs, engaging in active businesses and further promotes the small and medium scale enterprises.
He said, “My passion is to deliver on my campaign promises and promote entrepreneurship continually to drive our administration’s efforts.
“I remain committed to empowering businesses, supporting hard work, and building a thriving middle class.”
Over 10,000 sets of equipment were presented to 2,000 entrepreneurs under the Arise Entrepreneurial Equipment Support Scheme to expand their businesses and grow the local economy.

“As part of his efforts towards poverty alleviation and care to the people, I have provided life-changing support to deserving Akwa Ibom sons and daughters, the items include.”
Items presented to the people included: 77 mini buses and 31 saloon cars to deserving recipients, N10 million to Edidiong Essien, who scored 8 As in the 2023 WASCE, Full sponsorship for a Master’s Degree for Dr. Joseph Akpan, who graduated with overall best result, earning 10 distinctions at the University of Uyo, in any University around the world.
Also, N15 million to five Akwa Ibom students who won the Singapore-Bilateral International School Debate, plus N5 million for their teachers and N5 million to Otobong Philip Udoh, a female tipper truck driver breaking barriers in a male-dominated field.
According to the Governor, the laudable initiative is a reflection of his commitment to supporting enterprise, rewarding excellence, and uplifting lives.
The latest initiative, Tribune Online reports, follows the Governor’s recent economic interventions at the Abak Federal Constituency Town Hall Meeting on March 8, 2025, where: 178 farmers received ₦111 million in grants,442 traders were supported with ₦176 million, 6 MSMEs benefited from ₦30 million, 198 craftsmen received vital equipment support.
Eno charged all beneficiaries to make good use of the resources and inspire others through their success.
