Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has assured of more support to the State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, for emerging as the best-performing state in Contributory Healthcare Programme in the North.

He stated this on Thursday when the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Contributory Health Management Agency, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, presented him with the scorecard of the agency.

Buni said his administration would continue to accord priority to healthcare delivery across the state.

“Government would sustain the existing programmes and initiate new ones to ensure efficient and productive health care delivery in the state.”

According to the Executive Secretary, Dr Tijjani, Yobe state won the N30 Million award from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for being the best state in the Northeast sub-region.

He said over 300,000 persons in both the formal and non-formal sectors now enjoy the services of the state contributory health agency.

According to him, 2,500 additional vulnerable persons have been enrolled on the programme to benefit from Bill and Melinda Gates Award.

He explained that the agency is currently running five programmes which include the Formal sector with 201,655 beneficiaries covering 96% of its target.

“We also have the Buni Equity Programm covering 28,871 beneficiaries, and 43,997 beneficiaries for the
Basic Healthcare provision fund program while the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has 2,500 beneficiaries.”

Tijjani further said Yobe was the only state with such a record of achievement to attract the award.

The Executive Secretary dedicated the award to Governor Buni, for his personal commitment and the political will of his administration to providing accessible and affordable healthcare delivery to the people of Yobe State.

“We also appreciate the trust and free hands given to the management and staff of the agency to achieve this feat.”
