Gov Bagudu urges traditional rulers to support community policing

Gov. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu of Kebbi has urged traditional rulers to provide the requisite support to community policing by monitoring the movement of strangers and suspicious characters in the domains.

In a statement by Atiku-Bagudu’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, on Friday in Birnin Kebbi, he made the call at the palace of the Emir of Gwandu Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar when the Emirs of Kano and Bichi paid homage to the Gwandu monarch.

The governor then call became imperative in view of the importance of community engagement toward safeguarding the lives and property of the citizenry.

He commended the traditional rulers for facilitating the smooth and successful implementation of government policies and programmes.

The governor assured traditional rulers of the state government’s respect to traditional institutions to strengthen their role as custodian of culture and tradition of the people.

He advised the emirates in Kano to sustain brotherliness and unity to ensuring societal peace and development.

Iliyasu-Bashar, who welcomed the emir of Kano and Bichi, expressed appreciation for the visit and urged the monarchs to provide desired leadership as fathers of the people.

He said that the existing historical relationship between Gwandu and Kano would be maintained for the mutual benefit of the inhabitants of Kebbi and Kano states. Traditional rulers

The emir resented a publication entitled “KIFAYA” to the two emirs which contained the compilation of works of Sheikh Abdullahi bn Fodio.
