Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has advised corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Niger State to key into the state’s green economy and sustainable development projects aimed at reducing poverty among the populace.
He advised at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch C, Stream 1 orientation course in the Paikoro local government area of the state.
Bago, who was represented by the Head of Service, Alhaji Abubakar Salisu, added that the green economy initiative was also to raise the living standards of the people for the country’s economic growth and development.
“My dear compatriots, I advise you to integrate into the culture and traditions of your host community for a seamless service year,” he said.
He advised the corps members to avoid being lured into degrading and harmful acts, adding that they should shun social vices and avoid cybercrimes as they were potential leaders.
Earlier in her welcome address, the NYSC Coordinator in the State, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, advised the corps members to accept their letters of posting in good faith and be patriotic in their place of primary assignments.
She advised them to avoid meddling in the local politics of their host communities but rather undertake personal community development projects to uplift the living standards of the locals.
Olayinka thereby appealed to employers of labour to accept corps members posted to them and make necessary provisions for their welfare.
