Gov Aliyu urges affluent Muslims to establish more Ramadan feeding centres

As Muslims worldwide begin the 1446 Ramadan fast, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has called on affluent Muslims in the state to support government efforts by setting up additional Ramadan feeding centres in their communities.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Abubakar Bawa, in the early hours of Saturday following the sighting of the new moon in Nigeria, Governor Aliyu emphasized the importance of providing more feeding centres to cater to the needs of the less privileged.

“This initiative will ensure that vulnerable individuals and those living far from government-established feeding centres have additional locations to break their fast,” he stated.

The governor revealed that his administration had expanded the number of feeding centres from 135 to 155 to accommodate more people within the metropolis.

“We noticed that the existing centres were overstretched, which prompted the decision to create additional ones,” he explained.

Governor Aliyu also urged Muslims to use the holy month as an opportunity to pray for peace and unity in the country.

Furthermore, he encouraged Islamic clerics conducting Tafseer (Qur’anic exegesis) to include prayers for the success of his administration’s efforts to transform Sokoto State.

“The transformation currently taking place in Sokoto is evident to all, and we remain committed to sustaining this progress,” he assured.

He expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their unwavering support and urged them to continue backing the government’s initiatives.

Governor Aliyu concluded by praying to Almighty Allah to accept the acts of worship performed during Ramadan and wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and fulfilling fasting period.
