Gombe ready to key into NLTP, other FG’s initiatives ― Inuwa Yahaya

Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has said that his administration is ready to take the lead and key into the National Livestock Transformation plan and any other programme that will boost animal production, farming activities and guarantee food security in the state.

The Governor also said that his administration has already come up with workable policies and plans that will endear agriculture to the people of the state in one push to create jobs and address issues of unemployment and insecurity.

The Governor was speaking when he played host to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono at the Government House, Gombe.

Inuwa Yahaya who told the Minister that the state has about 23 grazing reserves with over 238,000 hectares of land, said his government will strengthen partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the overall development of agricultural activities in the state.

While describing Gombe as an agrarian state with vast potentials, Governor Yahaya assured that he will continue to prioritise agriculture and take the sector to the next level in line with his blueprint.

Earlier speaking, the Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono informed the Governor that he was in the state as a fall-out to the Governor’s recent visit to his office in Abuja, where they both discussed on how best to further develop agricultural activities in Gombe state.

The Minister said that as a national asset, agricultural production in the country is worth over N30 trillion, translating into 17 per cent of the nation’s GDP.

He promised to make Gombe state a model in livestock production through the establishment of a grazing reserve equipped with a school, veterinary clinic and other facilities that will enhance the value chain.

The Governor in the company of the Minister later visited and inspected the moribund Gombe State ADP Seeds Processing Plant and Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa.

The tour will continue with a visit to Wawa-Zange Grazing Reserve in Dukku Local Government Areas as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli  Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.

The Minister is in Gombe state on a 2-day working visit to among others, inspect the famous Zange- Wawa Grazing Reserve and other Agricultural facilities in readiness for implementation of numerous programmes and initiatives to enhance the agricultural value chain
