Gombe Police recovers missing mace

BARELY 24 hours after the Mace of the Gombe State House of Assembly was whisked away by some APC members of the House, the State Police Command has recovered it.

The State Commissioner of Police, Tairu Shina Olukolu disclosed this while speaking with Journalists shortly after handing over the Mace to the Speaker, Nasiru Abubakar Nono on Friday, saying that the officers and men of the Command found the Mace behind the National Industrial Court complex, in Gombe.

The Police Boss then warned politicians to refrain from criminal acts in the name of politics that will unnecessarily heat up the polity in the state declaring that the rule of law is no respecter of any person and that they should remember that the law will always take its course no matter who is culpable.

Shina Olukolu further said that the Police are yet to make arrest in connection with the incidence pointing out however that investigation is still ongoing to unravel the actors.

The Police Commissioner also added that the vehicle used during the commotion that followed the snatching of the mace was also recovered.

Also speaking on the development, Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Nasiru Abubakar Nono commended the security agents for recovering the symbol of authority of the Assembly urging the Police to bring all those that perpetrated the criminal act was brought to the book.
