Gombe LG caretaker chairman, Aliyu Haruna dies at 58

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council, Alhaji Usman Haruna, has passed away. The news of his demise was conveyed in a statement issued by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Gombe. The statement, made available to journalists on Tuesday evening, reads:

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the demise of Alhaji Aliyu Usman Haruna, the Caretaker Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council.”

The release also mentioned that Alhaji Aliyu, aged 58, passed away today in an Egyptian hospital where he was undergoing treatment. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya received the news with profound sadness and expressed his condolences.

In reacting to the sad news, the Governor described the death of the ALGON Chairman as a monumental loss, not only to his family but also to the state and Nigeria as a whole. He stated that the deceased was a confidant, honest, and loyal associate, making this loss profoundly personal to him.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized that the death of the Gombe Local Government Caretaker Chairman is not just a loss to one community but a loss felt across the entire state. He fondly remembered Alhaji Aliyu Haruna as a humble, humane, and remarkable politician and leader who served the nation diligently in various capacities, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many.

According to him, “Alhaji Aliyu Haruna’s leadership qualities and his commitment to the welfare of his people were evident throughout his services as elected and Caretaker Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council as well as in many other positions he held.”

The Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Gombe local government, and the entire state. The release further stated, “As we mourn this huge loss, we pray Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.”

Born on 2nd June 1965, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna, popularly known as ‘Ali Ashaka,’ left behind two wives and sixteen children. Details regarding the funeral prayer will be communicated in due course.
