Gombe govt to construct roads, provide amenities to open up rural communities

Gombe State Government has expressed determination to open up rural communities in the state through the construction of roads and provision of other social amenities in order to improve the living conditions of rural dwellers.

This was expressed by the State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya while speaking at the 2019 Waja Day Festival held at the Tallasse township stadium in Balanga LGA on Saturday.

He said that his administration has already approved the construction of the Talasse-Reme, Yiri and Mwona roads in Balanga local government area in order to facilitate easy movement of people, goods and other services in the area.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, assured that the government will continue to prioritise rural development as well as security and welfare of the people.

He added that the government will continue to work towards creating a conducive environment for communities in the state to harness their natural endowments and cultural potentials to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the society.

He, however, changed the youths who constitute the vibrant population to imbibe cultural values and translate them into job opportunities towards self-reliance and economic empowerment.

The Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Jatau, who is also the National President, Waja progressive Association ( WAPA) explained that the festival was to provide an avenue for showcasing the cultural heritage of the Wajas and to strengthen unity and cohesion among the people.

The Deputy Governor whose speech was read by the Vice President of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Tallasse appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his developmental strides in the state and his support to their communities.

Chairman of the occasion and former Deputy Governor of Gombe state, Dr John Lazarus Yoriyo decried the report of incessant insecurity, hatred, and political intrigues in the area, calling for unity of purpose for the progress of the people.

During the event, Wajas from home and diaspora appeared in colourful attires to showcase their cultural heritage as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
