The Governor who directed the task force to immediately swing into action told journalists after an unscheduled visit to the State Water Board and its treatment plant in Dadin Kowa, situated over forty kilometers away from the state capital that he took the action following the severe hardship being faced by the people.
This was Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s first official visit to any MDA after his inauguration on 29th May, 2019 declaring that he wants to bring back the lost confidence the people had in government because according to him, “people are seriously complaining about lack of water and as a responsible government, we cannot just sit down and fold our hands while our people suffer.”
The governor who expressed satisfaction over what he saw at the treatment plant however said the major challenge is the failure of the Water Board to reticulate the water to the consumers saying, “with what I saw, we will fast track development in a way that very soon, the people will see positive change because they voted for change and they will see the change.”
The seven-man task force which has Engineer Abubakar Bappa as Chairman has Engineer Salisu Alhaji Boyi as Deputy Chairman with other members include, Engineer Mijinyawa Yahaya, Engineer Adams Bala, Magaji Abubakar, Engineer Muhammad Saidu while Barrister Garba Ibrahim Ali, will serve as the Secretary.
The task force is mandated to look into the issues militating against regular water supply and take remedial steps to restore daily provision to all areas covered by the existing water reticulation. The task force is to commence work immediately until further directives.
