Gombe Gov pledges continued investment in education

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has promised to continue with the rigorous reforms in the Educational sector embarked upon by his administration with a view to improving the overall developmental prospects of Gombe State.

The governor made this assertion during an unscheduled inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the road network and some other structures at the Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Dadin Kowa, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.

While expressing satisfaction with the quality and level of the work, he assured that his administration will remain committed to building a resilient state for the present and subsequent generations.

Inuwa Yahaya explained that the school was one of the five mega schools built by his administration to improve the quality of education and promote enrollment.

“We have provided all the required infrastructure, such as roads and water supply, and also deployed adequate teachers and other human and material resources needed”, he said, expressing hope that the projects will be completed before the end of September this year.

He also noted that his administration has constructed five similar schools across the state in line with his vision to develop the education sector.

“We aim to revitalise and renovate the school, providing all the necessary facilities so that it can accommodate not fewer than 3000 students in a world-standard learning environment to deliver quality education to our young ones, who are the future of our society”, he said.

The Governor urged the contractors handling the project to fast-track the pace of the work so that it would be completed before the commencement of the new academic session.

In his response, the site manager overseeing the projects said that the 1.7 km of road construction has reached about 95% level of completion, while other structures have attained a significant level, assuring to work in line with the governor’s directive to deliver the project on time.

Also in his goodwill message, the principal of the school thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for rescuing the school from its erstwhile moribund condition.

“The school was in a sorry situation where students and birds were competing for space in the hostels, with no good classes, hostels, and students taking exams in the dining hall, etc.

The school did not receive the needed attention from the previous administrations”, he recalled.
